"Reducing Stress in your life."
Greetings, my friends.
Are you experiencing stress in your life this week? Individuals with high expectations to meet goals and objectives are prone to experiencing high stress.
As a seller and manager for over two decades, I wrestled and battled with stress. I experienced health issues and an overall lack of joy in my life. But I want you to know, my friends, that you are not alone in your struggles.
I discovered that in my relationship with God, He had a built-in antidote for stress—prayer and meditation on His promises.
I began by acknowledging to God my struggles and defeats due to stress.
God knows everything, but there is something therapeutic in talking with God, who loves you unconditionally and is not judgmental about what is stressing you.
You may face many circumstances that create stress. One particular one for me was meeting my sales objectives and managing my sales territory.
"Father God, please help me deal with the pressure and stress of making my sales quota."
I found God's response in this verse on May 24, 1997, in my Bible.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phillippians 4:6-7
Try doing this and writing this verse on a 3x5 card.
Recite it and talk with God as you write it down.
Writing slows you down and allows you to process what you are reading aloud.
Multiple times during your day, take the card and read it aloud, asking God to help you experience what He promises in these verses.
I carried my 'power cards', which were small cards with the verse written on them, with me during busy days of sales calls, answering questions regarding deals forecasted and planning for the days and weeks ahead. Whenever I began to feel the stress of all the activities, I pulled out my card and quietly recited the verse to God.
God's promises didn't make the stressors disappear, but they empowered me to face them. They still empowered me as I completed forty-nine years at our company and continue my life and career journey at the age of seventy-five. I encourage you to find this same empowerment, my friends.
I encourage you to try it, my friends, and also to share your experiences with others. You never know who might be struggling with stress and could benefit from your story and the power of prayer and meditation on God's promises.
Love,
Tony.
